The Heart Principle is an initiate , raw, emotional, captivating novel. It transports the reader to the life of a young person struggling.
Anna has always felt weird all her life, she is constantly dismissed, opinions not asked, decisions taken for her. That’s how she finds herself in a relationship and where she is constantly invalidated, not respected and unhappy. I guess fate decides to take pity on her when her boyfriend decides by himself alone that they should be in an open relationship.
During this period she meets, Quan, a Vietnamese man who is battling his own scars. He is trying to tape his life back together after an illness and surgery put uis life in disarray . What was meant to be a one-night stand turns into two people conforting each other and helping each other walk through their sorrows and trauma. Through this process they find healing and love.
This book expressed the battles of mental health and how close it is to home. It showed how the people that are supposed to be the closest to you like family can cause and inflict pain on you. Most importantly, it shows that it’s okay to put yourself first. To fight for yourself, to seek your happiness against all odds. I can’t explain how much I love this book. The author’s note is so intimate and completes the story. I’m grateful that Helen put out this amazing piece of art. I love it so much and I rate it 5/5🌟
