“The Heart Principle” by Helen Hoang Review

The Heart Principle is an initiate , raw, emotional, captivating novel. It transports the reader to the life of a young person struggling.

Anna has always felt weird all her life, she is constantly dismissed, opinions not asked, decisions taken for her. That’s how she finds herself in a relationship and where she is constantly invalidated, not respected and unhappy. I guess fate decides to take pity on her when her boyfriend decides by himself alone that they should be in an open relationship.

During this period she meets, Quan, a Vietnamese man who is battling his own scars. He is trying to tape his life back together after an illness and surgery put uis life in disarray . What was meant to be a one-night stand turns into two people conforting each other and helping each other walk through their sorrows and trauma. Through this process they find healing and love.

This book expressed the battles of mental health and how close it is to home. It showed how the people that are supposed to be the closest to you like family can cause and inflict pain on you. Most importantly, it shows that it’s okay to put yourself first. To fight for yourself, to seek your happiness against all odds. I can’t explain how much I love this book. The author’s note is so intimate and completes the story. I’m grateful that Helen put out this amazing piece of art. I love it so much and I rate it 5/5🌟

“The Bride Test” by Helen Hoang Review

The Bride Test is the second book in the kiss quotient series. It follows Esme a Vietnamese woman who comes to America for the summer as a marriage prospect . She is a hardworking single mother who single-handedly provides for her daughter, mother and grandmother. So when a woman presents her with the opportunity to marry her son . She thinks why not.

Khai, the marriage prospect is the second son. He has Autism spectrum disorder and lives his life in routine and solitude. So imagine his surprise when his mother tells him she has arranged a marriage for him.

He is attracted to Esme but not willing to enter a relationship with her. As they continue to live together, he finds that perhaps having someone by one’s side is nice and comfortable.

This book was so easy to read. I finished it in one sitting. I love the depiction and growth of the characters . The representation of autism was good as I learnt more about the syndrome. I rate it 4/5🌟

“The Silent Patient” by Alex Michealides

The Silent Patient is a mystery triller which begins when Alicia is convicted of murdering her husband .One interesting thing is that from the time the cops arrived at her home, Alicia did not utter a word and has kept mute every since .

This served as proof of her mental instability and illness and so the defense of insanity works she was sent to a mental facility called the Glove for treatment

A certain Psychotherapist, Theo is attracted to Alicia story and makes the resolution to work at the glove to help her . During their sessions, Theo senses that there is more to the story and begins to investigate. As he does, the ugly truth begins to come to life which threatens the peace they have grown used to.

A silent patient is an amazing novel which tells a wonderful story, it is well written and depicted and it brings you along every step of the way. You feel the rush of emotions of the characters of the book as it progresses almost as if you are the character. The plot twist was so incredible and unimaginable. It is so good as a debut novel. I highly recommend this book for mystery, crime and thriller lovers. I rate it 5/5🌟.

“The Perks of being a Wallflower” by Stephen’in Chbosby Review

This novel is written in form of letters by Charlie to a friend. It details his experiences in his first year of high school. Charlie is the last of three children who has faced mental illness due to his childhood and specifically his seventh birthday when his favorite person, his aunt Helen died in a car accident.

Charlie meets Sam and Patrick and they become good friends although there are challenges that come with it. The novel explores what it means to be a wallflower

A wallflower is someone who has no one to dance with or feels shy , awkward or excluded at a party. I guess I am a wallflower then.

Reading this book reminded me of Alesia Cara’s song “Here”. I liked that it showed what living with a mental I’ll is like , showing the struggles it poses to the person and others and most important how such person views the world which consequently imparts his behavior to the world.

Charlie’s story is a good one which showed that people with mental illnesses are normal and although it may make some certain social behavior harder, they are still people who deserve our respect and love. I loved the ending . This book was great for a debut novel . I rate this book 4/5🌟

“A Court of Silver Flames” by Sarah J Maas Review

The lastest part of the ACOTAR series, a court of silver flames focuses on Nesta, Feyre’s eldest sister.

Following the aftermath of the war with King Eyburn , Nesta struggles to come to term with her grief. She becomes a shell of her self, drinking into oblivion, sleeping with strangers and not caring about her life again.

To help, Feyre decides that she will go to the House of Winds with Cassian to train.

Sexual tension heightens between cassian and nesta alongside the creeping threat of the Mortal queen. Trying to train, Nesta begin to understand the depth of her power which puts her and her family’s lives at risk.

A delightful read. I enjoyed this book so much especially the romance between Cassian and Nesta. Sarah did a great job at redeeming Nedra’s character as I hated her in all the previous books except this. This book dwelled on the subject of grief , healing and forgiveness. I enjoyed all the moments all the characters could come together and laugh. However I’m sensing a lot more from Azriel and Elian . I hope they grow into more than friends ( sorry for Lucien) .

In conclusion, this series did not disappoint and I’m a bit sad that I did not read it sooner. Can’t wait to have the physical copies in my hands . I rate this book 5/5🌟

“A Court of Frost and Starlight” by Sarah J Maas Review

This novella takes place after a Court of Wings and Ruin and before a Court of Silver Flames.

The story progresses with the different perspectives of Rhysand, Feyre, Cassian and Morrigan in the aftermath of the war . They try to cope with different strategies and continue to fight their demons while awaiting the upcoming festival .

About to celebrate the solidity festival, they all come together as one family to experience peace , joy and laughter .A great way to refresh from the pains of the way. Although the war is gone , there is still unrest and anxiety about the state of the faes. Feyre adjust to the responsibilities of a high lady and looks for a way for everyone to heal from the pains and heartaches.

A good escape from all the bloodshed and killings, a court of frost and starlight takes a calm approach to examine the characters recoupiratimg after the war . I appreciated this book as it presents a good decline from the climax to show the state of things after the win. I rate it a 4/5🌟

“A Court of Wings and Ruin” by Sarah J Maas Review

Feyre is angry and as the high lady of the night court she will deceive Tamlin and everyone to get her revenge. The fact that Feyre is angry at the beginning of the book is all you need in order to know that this book is going to slap . So yeah , you’re welcome cos I know you will thank me later.

Perhaps this series actually has crack in it because it just keeps getting better. The planning , diction , amazing humor to the incredible plot line . Sarah really know her shit.

However I will say that I cried at the climax of the book cos I could not believe she will let her readers go through that hurt.

Nevertheless this book was incredible. Incredible enough for me to go pass the guilt of reading this instead of reading for my exams in two days.

What can I say , I simply could not put it down. I will say that I was worried at first because of the size of the book not now that I have . I can’t imagine myself not wanting bigger books .

So you .. yes you reading this , go and read this series . I am literally begging 🙏 . Run and buy it and read it . You will thank me for it. I rate this book 5/5🌟

“A court of Mist and Fury” by Sarah J Maas Review

Starting from the aftermath of Amanatra death, Feyre tries to adjust to the consequences of her actions and new body. Tamlin changes and there is a drift in their relationship. A cry for help is answered by Rhysand who takes Feyre away on her wedding day and opens her to the new world.

A court of Mist and fury was a great read. I’m not much of a fantasy lover but this series is slowing changing my mind. Please if you see this go and read this series .

I thought the first book was amazing but this is breathtaking. The writing, plot , secrets , twists . Sarah you are my girl.

All I want to say is I need my Rhysand because this is too good to remain fiction. A dark mixture of love , betrayal, deceit and bravery. I loved every part of this book. I rate it 5/5🌟

“A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J Maas Review

A court of Thorn and roses is a fantastic fantasy book. First of the series , We are introduced to Feyre. Probably the most selfless and brave character I have read. Ignoring her mortal state and her inability to read . She goes into the forest in a quest to feed her family .

After hunting for days without luck , she sees a wolf and takes a shot . However It turns out the wolf is a Fearie, a mythical immortal creature.

Because of the treaty signed at the end of the war she has broken the law, She is given a choice ? To die instantly or live the rest of her life in their mythical kingdom

She is taken away by Tamlin, A high lord, . As they live together their relationship progresses . But masks, lies and fear of a sickness in the land poses a barrier. Will she realize the truth? Can she ever see tamlin without his mask? Can she go back home?

I guess we will find out. A court order of thorns and roses keeps you at the edge of your seat and the plot twists are so unexpected and incredible

I really enjoyed this book. I must say I have a thing for strong female leads who go against all odds to win. The plot was well written together with the twists that you never see coming . Sarah girl you did a great job. I’m excited to read the other books in the series and I know I need more of Rhysaad . A great start to fantasy books . I rate this book 4/5🌟
