“Get a Life , Chloe Brown” by Talia Hibbert Review

Chloe is a 30 something year old woman suffering from fibromyalgia and has been living like a shell. After a glimpse of death, she decides to “get a life” . She starts with a list as she always does which includes moving out of her mom’s house, getting meaningless sex and other things

Her House superintendent, Redford Morgan who she has a kind of hate relationship agrees to help her with the list. As they begin to cross of each activity on the list, Red becomes brave to live his life like Chloe. Chloe adds one more thing to her list. To keep red

Get a life , Chloe brown is a romantic comedy I very much enjoyed. I loved the interactions between the sisters. And I’m glad about Red’s growth from his past. This book says you should forget all your flaws and live your life. So if you don’t have a life, get one! I rate it 4/5🌟

“Take a Hint,Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert Review

This book is a funny read. Dani is a 27 year old world afraid of commitment and love . So when a video of her and a certain handsome young man whose company she very much enjoys goes viral they decide there is nothing else to do than to fake a relationship

Much like any romance book with the fake dating tripe . You know someone is going to catch feelings. Well in this case, Zahir caught feelings way before they started fake dating and Dani caught feelings but is too scared to realize it.

This book was very easy to read. The storyline is engaging and sweet because who doesn’t live a romance that involves the other partner being oblivious to her feelings. I am liking this series very much . I rate it 4/5🌟

“Electric Idol” by Katee Robert Review

A modern day retelling of Greek mythology, Electric Idol is the second book in the Dark Olympus series featuring Eros, son of Aphrodite and Psyche , daughter of Demeter

Aphrodite and Demeter are not best of friends and so when a blog releases implicating photos of Eros and psyche the only option is to enter a marriage of convenience

I’m a sucker for marriage of convenience and the fake dating trope. Add that with love of Greek mythological. This book presents a beautiful story with smut. I can’t wait for a potential Zeus and Callisto book. I liked the book and I rate it 3/5🌟.

“Galatea” by Madeline Miller Review

Galatea is a short story which tells the story of Galatea, the wife of a skilled marble sculptor , who created her as a masterpiece and was brought to life by a goddess.

Galatea is the most beautiful woman in her town. She is expected not to be like the other women her husband despise . To continue to blush and act a fool for him. To know nothing of the world and be his little pet.

When she gets pregnant, her husband is angry and she begins to learn and to use her beauty to protect the one person important to her.

Galatea was a good story to me. It painted a perfect picture of a misogynist man who created a perfect woman for himself . Even with all the qualities she has he is not satisfied. He sets impossible standards and is not happy when you attain them. He wants you to have an effect on every man but be oblivious about it. All I can say is, this is a Greek retelling of our present men right now. I rate it 4/5.🌟

“All Rhodes Lead Here” by Mariana Zapata Review

This book tells a sweet , slow love story. Aurora is trying to put her life back together after been dumped by her boyfriend of 14 years. After driving across cities, she decides to stay permanently at her homeland, Colorado.

She has an eventful first meeting with her landlord and his son. She later develops an intimate, emotional and romantic relationship with him as time passes. It feels so good like the universe made her to go there.

All Rhodes lead here is a soulful, slow burn romance. It starts out as strangers then friends then lovers. It was a nice read . It is the kind of book you pick up to escape from your reality. I rate it 4/5

“Verity” by Colleen Hoover Review

Verity is a chilling, naked, raw intriguing triller that centered around the life of Lowen.

At the brink of financial collapse, Lowen is offered to be a co-writer to finish three books remaining in the book series of a popular thriller and mystery writer, Verity.

Verity is currently healing from a car accident and is unable to write. This agreement is arranged by Verity’s husband. He invited her to stay a couple of days in their home to sort out her files and notes in order to start writing. Everything seems to be working out , but as she moves into the house, she sees that something feels off.She stumbles upon a manuscript that seems to hold the answer to all her questions. But is it the truth? .

I loved this book so much. Colleen knows why she is doing. I could feel the goosebumps and my toes curl in anticipation while reading this book. And the ending? Oh My God. This book was amazing and I hope she writes more thriller mystery in he future. I rate it 5/5🌟

“Dating Dr Dil” by Nisha Sharma Review

If Shakespeare was an Aunty .

This book features Kareena, a 30 year old Indian independent attorney who is unmarried . That alone is a problem for her.

Her sister, Bintu is engaged and the pressure of marriage on her is heightened.

She meets Prem, a fellow Indian citizen in a bar and they connect instantly but he has to leave because of an emergency. After their failed one night stand , kareena meets him at the set of her sister’s interview and accused him publicly of being a hypocrite.

It goes viral and causes a nuisance. Her aunties advise her to date him because their favorite online matchmaking expert said so. They start a sort of situation ship but their chemistry is too much to ignore. As they realize their feelings for each other, the subject of love makes it complicated.

I enjoyed this book. I loved the desi representation. I loved the dedication of this book. The theme on the pressure of women to get married early and the societal encouragement for women to lower their standard is bullshit. I’m excited for the other books in this series, starting with Benjamin and Bobbi’s book. I rate this book 4/5🌟.

“The Wall of Winnipeg and Me” by Mariana Zapata Review

The wall of Winnipeg and me is a novel about a football player and his assistant. After two years of endurance, Vanessa Mahur is done with Aiden. She quits her job and leaves his life after spacing away for two years. A month later , he shows up at her door asking her to come back and marry him. What can go wrong with that arrangement.

Van agrees to marry him to pay off her student loans . As they enter their marriage of convenience, Vanessa starts to realize that perhaps she had been wrong about how he feels about her. It conveniently seems like a good trap for her to fall In love with him.

This novel is a beautiful slow burn. It has a bit of enemies to lovers trope and it was so intriguing and interesting. I could not stop until I finished the novel . I loved the characters and the writing . I rate it 5/5🌟

“Love in Color “ by Bolu Babalola Review

Love in Color is a collection of short stories with mythical and beautiful backgrounds retold in an amazing way. My favorite story is that of ‘Scheherazade’. Bolu uses words in a magnificent way and the way she writes makes the stories very intriguing.

I learnt more of other myths from around the world through her stories . All these stories emphasize the importance and relevance of love. It’s ability to transport across continents, perspectives, gender , upbringing and above every road block. I loved reading this book and I recommend it to Hopeless Romantics. I rate it 4/5🌟.

“Pachinko “ by Min Jin Lee Review

Pachinko is a novel that follows three generation of family. Starting from a young Korean farmer and his wife who had a son called Hoonie He is married to Yang Jin who gives birth to Sonja. The book is centered around Sunja.

This novel is told by an omniscient narrator who expresses the characters, their personalities, plights and struggles absolutely well. It shows the struggles and experiences of a first generation Korean immigrant in Japan and those with dual cultural identities.

Panchiko is a novel that tells more than one story. It tells the individual stories of people connected by birth , blood, experiences and faith. It is a reflection of life. The reflection os seen in the characters as some are born with a silver spoon in their mouth while others spend their entire life toiling and struggling.

Overall in my opinion this is a story about survival. The will and determination to survive it all no matter what war, discrimination, imprisonment, poverty of hardship comes their way.

Pachinko is a story that needed to be told. The experiences of these characters need to be shown to the world. Because they matter . The title of the novel pachinko resonates with me as it serves as a metaphor for the history of Koreans in Japan who were constantly caught in global conflict and had to lose, win and struggle for their place and lives.

The writing was great. I felt like I was reliving the lives of the characters as I was reading their lives step by step. I cried , laughed and reminisce over the story told. I can’t wait to watch the Adaptation in a tv series in two days.I rate it 5/5🌟
