“I’m not a religious person but I do sometimes think God made you for me”
Normal People is a fascinating story of friendship and love. Connell and Marianne grew up in the same small neighborhood. Connell mother works as a housekeeper for Marianne’s mother .In school he pretends not to know her. He is popular, the star of the soccer team in school while she is an outcast without friends. But when Connell comes to Marianne’s house to pick his mom up, their relationship changes from that point which defines the rest of their life.
Written in a Third Person POV, Sally presents these wonderful characters in their longing for love , understanding and quest to fit in.
All I have to say is , you either get this book or you don’t. I felt this book on emotional levels. It highlighted how we can shape our lives around what people make of us . Just like the way the main characters were described as odd and weird by other characters and how their lives were shaped around the perspections other people had of them. However I did not enjoy how the characters love life kept on going in circles. But now I think about it maybe that is the point
Normal People is a novel I cherish so much. This is the first book I’m reading of Sally Rooney and I’m glad I bought the book from @rhbooks. For the best experience, head to Spotify and stream any Normal People playlist while you read the book.
I rate it 5/5🌟
